An exhibition to celebrate the achievements of young people through the opportunities made available by an East Renfrewshire based charity has taken place at the Scottish Parliament.
The charity, Young Enterprise Scotland is headquartered at the Rouken Glen Centre in Thornliebank and the organisation is focused on supporting all young people to learn, develop and achieve their full potential in life, irrespective of background.
Founded in 1992, the organisation has established a large number of enterprise, financial education and development programmes for young people throughout Scotland.
The programmes are designed to aid school and college experiences and the charity is centred upon the four principal values of Integrity, Enthusiasm, Creativity and Collaboration.
Young Enterprise Scotland has provided a core learning experience to enhance the skills, attitudes and competencies of 3,274 young people.
The charity has also supported a total of 2,523 young people through an applied education experience where they have demonstrated a strong grasp of real-world competencies.
A number of the students who have participated in the activities offered by the organisation were present at Holyrood to share their experiences with MSP’s.
The exhibition was sponsored by Jackson Carlaw and the headquarters of Young Enterprise Scotland is located within the Eastwood constituency he represents at Holyrood.
There is a practical worksite available to support young people at the Rouken Glen Centre.
Scottish Conservative MSP for Eastwood, Jackson Carlaw said:
“Young Enterprise Scotland has played a critical role in the lives of so many young people across the nation and the organisation provides a range of fantastic opportunities.
“It was a real pleasure to sponsor this key exhibition at the Scottish Parliament and to allow MSP colleagues to hear from young people who have excelled through the programmes offered by the charity.
“In the three decades of it’s existence, Young Enterprise Scotland has become firmly established as a key organisation in supporting young people to make the most of their talents and the charity is a credit to Eastwood.”
