A programme of resurfacing works at a residential street in Waterfoot is now complete.
The road and pavements at Brackenrig Crescent were in a horrendous condition for a very long period and with potholes present across the surface.
A large number of constituents had been in contact with local MSP, Jackson Carlaw about the poor state of Brackenrig Crescent and he made multiple representations to East Renfrewshire Council over the previous year, calling on the local authority to sort out the badly damaged surface.
As part of his efforts to secure wide-ranging repair work for the street, Mr Carlaw also escalated the issue directly to the council’s Director of Environment last year.
At the end of March, the council published it’s resurfacing programme for East Renfrewshire in 2022/23 and the road and footways at Brackenrig Crescent were included as part of the works to take place in the new financial year.
Mr Carlaw recently visited Brackenrig Crescent and he has welcomed the successful completion of the repairs programme.
Scottish Conservative MSP for Eastwood, Jackson Carlaw said:
“The sheer number of constituents who contacted me to express dismay at the derisory state of their local road and pavements highlighted how important it was for permanent repair work to be organised.
“Last May, I visited the street to take a look at the surface and obtain photographs to send along to the council.
“Whilst many roads in Eastwood are in a long-standing state of disrepair, Brackenrig Crescent was one of the worst that I had seen in person and it was abundantly clear that a resurfacing scheme needed to be arranged.
“As such, I was determined to deliver a positive result for my constituents on the issue and to secure a commitment from the council that long overdue resurfacing works would finally take place.
“It was fantastic that the programme of repairs started early in the current financial year and it is great news for local residents that the road and pavements at Brackenrig Crescent have finally been brought up to an acceptable standard.”
