Eastwood MSP, Jackson Carlaw has welcomed news that Post Office services are returning to Sheddens in December.
The Post Office have confirmed with the MSP that postal services will be restored in the same premises at 28 Eaglesham Road from early December on a temporary basis while the search for a permanent solution continues.
The Post Office branch is to be reinstated on Wednesday 2nd December and the opening time on this day will be 1pm to 5pm.
Following the re-opening of the Sheddens Post Office, the service will then be available from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 10am and 2pm.
In August, the Post Office confirmed that postal services at Sheddens were to be withdrawn temporarily from Sunday 6th September following the resignation of the postmaster.
On top of the recent closure in September, Sheddens previously went for over a year without a functioning Post Office before services returned in early 2018.
When it emerged that the Sheddens branch was to close in September, Mr Carlaw wrote to the Post Office to stress the urgency of restoring postal services to the local area as quickly as possible and to avoid the long-standing closures in other parts of the constituency at Eaglesham, The Avenue and Broomburn Shops.
Scottish Conservative MSP for Eastwood, Jackson Carlaw said:
"I am pleased that the Post Office have acted on the concerns I raised with them and confirmed that services will be restored to Sheddens in December, albeit on a temporary basis.
"It will come as a relief to local people that a functioning Post Office will be back in operation at the same premises in December.
"Whilst the Post Office branch is to re-open temporarily, it is absolutely imperative that all avenues are explored to find a permanent solution to secure the long-term future of postal services in Sheddens."
