Jackson Carlaw MSP and Paul Masterton MP have sent a message of support to the local Muslim community in East Renfrewshire following horrific attacks on the other side of the world.
Forty-nine people have been murdered and another twenty injured after shootings took place at two mosques in Christ Church, New Zealand.
The Eastwood MSP and East Renfrewshire MP have given their unconditional support to the whole community and have offered their heartfelt condolences.
In the joint statement to the Muslim Community in East Renfrewshire, Jackson Carlaw MSP and Paul Masterton MP said:
“We send heartfelt condolences to all our friends in the East Renfrewshire Muslim community who we know will be deeply shocked and appalled at the events in Christchurch, New Zealand. These may have taken place on the other side of the globe but their impact will be felt profoundly by us all.
“Our thoughts and prayers are naturally with the relatives and friends of all those who have been directly affected. We must also thank the emergency services and others who will be offering vital assistance to so many at this time.
“Please convey our support to the whole community and be assured of our very best wishes.”
