In his first season at Liverpool, Robertson was part of the club’s run to the Champions League Final and started the Merseyside team’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid on 26th May 2018.
Mr Carlaw has also written to Robertson through his club side Liverpool F.C to congratulate him on his appointment as national team Captain.
Commenting Jackson Carlaw MSP said:
"It’s fantastic to see a former St Ninian’s High School pupil in the shape of Andy Robertson becoming captain of the Scottish National Team at the age of just 24.
"Andy’s appointment as Scotland captain and his achievements in football to date, including his start for Liverpool in May’s Champions League Final, demonstrates that he is a role model for Eastwood-based school pupils and a great example for any young person living locally who hopes to achieve great things in football or any other profession.
"I have submitted a motion at The Scottish Parliament so that Andy’s new status as captain is recognised by MSPs and I wish him every success as he seeks to lead the nation to our first major championship finals since France 1998."
