Statistics from Police Scotland have revealed a 21% increase in public reported anti social behaviour in East Renfrewshire.
The statistics from 2016/17 to 2017/18 show that incidents have risen across East Renfrewshire from 3,010 to 3,640 or the equivalent of 10 incidents per day.
It is likely that the increase is actually higher with the statistics only covering reported incidents of anti-social behaviour incidents.
Other crimes such as thefts and housebreaking can also be seen to be on the rise
The data, while not official statistics, relates mainly to crime recorded by Police Scotland but some information about incidents and some survey data are also included. It covers the period from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018.
Commenting Eastwood MSP, Jackson Carlaw said:
“This is the SNP's soft touch Scotland in action: more anti-social behaviour and more thefts and housebreakings in Eastwood.
"Anti-social behaviour such as vandalism and noise is a real 'quality of life crime' with its impact on the community and especially the older and vulnerable significant.
"The SNP will bury these statistics under their insatiable drive for separation, yet what Eastwood needs is more police on the streets not indyref2."
East Renfrewshire MP, Paul Masterton added:
“The SNP is failing East Renfrewshire with their weak response to crime, which is now seeing anti-social behaviour and thefts and housebreaking rising under their watch.
"Residents need to know that The Scottish Government are prioritising keeping our streets safe rather than beginning another drive for a hated second separation referendum.
"With police numbers falling and police morale at all time low the SNP must now ensure that there are sufficient police officers alongside wardens available to reduce crime and reassure my constituents.
"I thank our East Renfrewshire police for their ongoing work to reduce anti-social behaviour but they are being let down by the SNP who have left them under resourced and under pressure."
