Clydesdale Bank has announced that their Giffnock branch is to close and customers are being advised that their new branch shall be in Shawlands.
Customers will remain able to carry on straightforward day-to-day banking in their local Post Office branch, at any other Clydesdale branch and by telephone, internet and mobile banking.
Commenting on the proposed closure Eastwood MSP Jackson Carlaw said:
"I am concerned about the proposed closure of the Clydesdale branch in Giffnock and have tabled a motion in The Scottish Parliament to ensure these concerns are heard.
"This follows on from the recent closure of TSB, Netwon Mearns and many residents will be left concerned about how and where they are going to do their day to day banking.
"There is the opportunity to use the banking facilities in your local Post Office in place of an official branch, yet that is subject to the continuation of the local Post Office which is never a surety.
"Following intimation of this proposed closure I have contacted Clydesdale to clarify that the regulatory requirements of consultation have been complied with and to seek a meeting in early course to ensure the interests of Eastwood customers are not disregarded."
