East Renfrewshire Conservatives have now selected their team of candidates to fight next year’s local authority elections.
With the decline of Scottish Labour nationally and locally, The Scottish Conservatives are looking to build upon their success in last year’s Scottish Parliament election and take the fight to the SNP locally.
This will be the first East Renfrewshire Council election under the new local authority boundaries.
Welcoming the council election team, Eastwood MSP Jackson Carlaw said:
“I am even more excited to hit the campaign trail now that we have selected such a great bunch of candidates.
“This is not the status quo with many new faces added to those experienced Councillors who have fought the Scottish Conservative cause locally for many years.
“Of our 9 candidates some 4 of them are fresh faces who will be pounding the streets for your concerns in Barrhead, Giffnock, Eaglesham and Newton Mearns North and Neilston amongst other areas.
“Remember it is only the Scottish Conservatives who resolutely oppose a second referendum neverendum and will protect the local services that are at the heart of local authority services.”
The candidates are:
Newton Mearns South and Eaglesham: Jim Swift, Jim Mclean and Barbara Grant
Newton Mearns North and Neilston: Charlie Gilbert and Andrew Morrison
Clarkston, Netherlee and Williamwood: Stewart Miller and Maya Brown
Giffnock and Thornliebank: Gordon Wallace
Barrhead, Liboside and Uplawmoor: Paul Aitken
