The Scottish Parliament now has its first ever Israeli Cross Party Group with yesterday seeing the successful inaugural meeting of ‘Building Bridges with Israel’.
This follows on from Jackson Carlaw’s pledge to help establish the Cross Party Group during the 2016 Scottish Parliament campaign.
Jackson Carlaw MSP was elected Convener of the group at its inaugural meeting.
Commenting on the successful constitution of the group Eastwood MSP Jackson Carlaw said:
“I am delighted to have helped establish this group with the assistance of fellow MSPs and many Eastwood residents who were present at yesterday’s inaugural meeting.
“This is not about simply defending every action of the State of Israel and neither should it be.
“It is about engaging with Israel and building links based on business, culture and education as well as exploring and countering issues of anti-Semitism at home and abroad.
“Far too often in The Scottish Parliament we have simply had an undiluted view from one side of this debate and thankfully this group will be here to remedy that.”
