East Renfrewshire MP, Paul Masterton, and Eastwood MSP, Jackson Carlaw, have praised Scotland's veterans during a flag raising ceremony for Armed Forces Day 2018.
The Scottish Conservative politicians joined local Councillors and members of the community outside East Renfrewshire Council to pay tribute to our Armed Forces personnel past and present.
Mr Masterton and Mr Carlaw both previously wrote to the Leader of East Renfrewshire Council to criticise the decision to cancel the wider family day of events in Rouken Glen Park for Armed Forces Day.
Commenting Jackson Carlaw MSP said:
“Armed Forces Day is just one of the opportunities to pay tribute to the men and women in our Armed Forces who often make huge sacrifices for our ongoing safety and security.
"It was a pleasure to hear from personnel past and present at the flag raising and this event will only ever go some way to recognising their societal contribution."
Paul Masterton MP added:
"It is always a pleasure to catch up with our East Renfrewshire veterans whose sacrifice we recognise and remember.
"Those past service personnel were still sharp in wit and devoted to the nation they helped protect."
