Paul Masterton MP and Jackson Carlaw MSP have congratulated St Joseph’s Primary School pupil, Oliver Sass on winning their 2018 Christmas Card Competition.
The MP and MSP made a recent visit to St Joseph’s and announced that Oliver was the winner of this year’s competition in front of his assembled classmates.
There are also a total of 10 runners-up – one drawn from each primary school in East Renfrewshire who participated in the competition.
Hundreds of efforts were submitted by primary school pupils all across East Renfrewshire and both politicians were hugely impressed with the quality of cards they received.
Oliver’s winning card has been sent to over 3000 households in East Renfrewshire and one has also been sent to the Prime Minister.
The winner’s prize was sponsored by Scottish Power and the runners-up prizes were sponsored by Waitrose.
Paul Masterton MP for East Renfrewshire said:
“The standard of Christmas Card was extremely high again this year and the artistic talent in our primary schools is there for all to see.
“Oliver’s card was the one that really caught our eye and we were very happy to announce he had won our competition.
“A massive thank you to Scottish Power and Waitrose for sponsoring the competition prizes. Your support is hugely valued and appreciated”.
Jackson Carlaw MSP for Eastwood added:
“The efforts put into our Christmas Card competition were tremendous and it was really tough to pick a winner.
‘Oliver’s design was hugely impressive and it was a delight to present him with his prize on our recent visit to St Joseph’s.
“We have sent the card to the Prime Minister and it will certainly look well on the mantelpiece at Number 10 Downing Street.”
