Jackson Carlaw MSP has welcomed the efforts of the Royal College of Nursing Scotland to promote diversity in the nursing workforce.
RCN Scotland has a diverse membership of more than 40,000 nurses, healthcare support workers and nursing students all across Scotland.
The organisation is aiming to ensure that all of its members are able to work in environments that are healthy, dignified, safe and free from discrimination on a daily basis.
Representatives of the Royal College of Nursing Scotland paid a visit to Holyrood to host a diversity exhibition stall.
Those present briefed MSPs on the work undertaken in this regard and the vital contribution made to the nursing profession by diverse groups such as people who are LGBT, black and ethnic minority and disabled.
Jackson Carlaw MSP for Eastwood said:
"I was delighted to join representatives from the Royal College of Nursing Scotland to celebrate Diversity in Nursing.
"Members of the organisation were keen to stress the diversity of the workforce and the need to confront any discrimination against nurses from diverse groups when it arises.
"RCN Scotland are to be commended for the efforts that they are making in highlighting the importance of diversity to the nursing profession in Scotland.
